If it becomes clear that the recipient of the money was a liar after traveling to Jordan and visiting the hospital, what is the ruling on the money paid to her as zakat, and must the money be returned to the one who paid it to you and to whom you handed it over? If it becomes clear to you that the woman is not eligible for zakat, and you had informed her that the money was zakat when you handed it over to her, then you must retrieve it and spend it on those who are eligible. If you are unable to retrieve it, it is sufficient, and you are not required to give out another zakat.

However, if it becomes clear that she is not eligible and you did not inform her that it was zakat, then you bear the responsibility for the zakat and must give it out a second time on your behalf and on behalf of those who appointed you as their agent, because you should have made that clear to her.
