Is refraining from eating and drinking in Ramadan based on listening to the Holy Quran Radio, or on the adhan of the neighboring mosque? And what is the ruling if I drank water while the adhan was being broadcast on the radio, but the adhan had not yet been called in the mosque?

One must abstain from all things that break the fast at the advent of true dawn (Fajr As-Sadiq), based on the Almighty's saying: "And eat and drink until the white thread of dawn becomes distinct to you from the black thread [of night]. Then complete the fast until the night." If the Adhan of the Holy Quran Radio precedes the time of true dawn, the fast is not invalidated. However, if the Adhan occurs after true dawn, there is a difference of opinion regarding the obligation of making up the fast. The more cautious and scrupulous approach is to be careful and make up the fast. Therefore, one must ascertain the most reliable source for observing the time.
