What is the ruling on forgetting the prostration of forgetfulness (sujood as-sahw) before the tasleem (final salutation) in prayer? And does one prostrate after the tasleem, recite the tahiyyat and salutations upon the Prophet, and then give the tasleem again? And is this action correct?

If someone forgets the prostration of forgetfulness (sujood as-sahw) before the salaam, they should perform it after the salaam, as long as the separation (between forgetting and remembering) has not been prolonged. Then they should say the salaam. Scholars have differed on whether one should recite the tashahhud after the two prostrations of forgetfulness or say the salaam immediately. Some have said that one should recite the tashahhud and then say the salaam, while others have said that one should say the salaam without the tashahhud. Yet others have said that one should neither recite the tashahhud nor say the salaam. Those who hold the view that the tashahhud is legislated have cited the hadith of Imran ibn Husayn as proof, however, the addition of the tashahhud in it has been weakened by a number of huffaz (hadith memorizers). Some scholars are of the opinion that the matter is flexible, so whoever recites the tashahhud or leaves it out, there is no blame upon them.
