Why is the number of rak'ahs for the Dhuhr prayer four rak'ahs, and not three like the Maghrib prayer, or like the rest of the prayers?

The number of prayers and their rak'ahs, and the stoning of the jamarat are acts of worship whose meanings are not comprehensible to servants, and the wisdom behind them is tribulation and testing for absolute submission to Allah's command.

This type of obligation is not dominant in Sharia. Many Sharia rulings have comprehensible meanings, either by their appearance in the Sacred Law, as in the Almighty's saying: "And establish prayer. Indeed, prayer prohibits immorality and wrongdoing," or by the scholars' derivation of them, such as the wisdom of breaking the fast during travel to avoid hardship.
