Is expiation incumbent upon one who neglected the care of canaries, thereby causing their death, out of fear and forgetfulness?

There is no basis for the belief that offering birds as sacrifice is forbidden during a woman's menstrual cycle, and there is no connection between the two matters. The owner of an animal must care for it, and if unable to do so, they should sell it or slaughter it if it is among those that are permissible to eat. Indeed, a severe warning has been issued against anyone who confines an animal and does not feed it until it dies. If the failure to feed it results from forgetfulness and not deliberate intent, it is a legitimate excuse, based on the Almighty's saying: (Allah does not burden a soul beyond its capacity) and (Our Lord, do not take us to task if we forget or make a mistake).
