What is the ruling on the the prayer of someone who cannot attend Friday prayer due to the distance of the mosque and work responsibilities?
If the questioner works in a place far from mosques and needs a long time to reach them, then congregational prayer becomes obligatory upon him if he hears the call (to prayer) from the nearest mosque without a loudspeaker, unless there is a valid excuse, according to the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "Whoever hears the call and does not answer it, there is no prayer for him except for one with an excuse."
As for the Friday prayer, scholars differentiate between the place being outside the city, in which case it is not obligatory except for those who hear the call, according to the majority of scholars, and the place being inside the city, in which case the Friday prayer is obligatory upon him whether he hears the call or not.
The questioner is advised to fear Allah and perform His obligatory duties if the conditions for their obligation are met, for Allah will make a way out for him, and the doors of sustenance are many.
