It is permissible for spouses to wash each other after death, and for a son to wash his father, and for a daughter to wash her mother. However, for a man to wash his mother, sister, or daughter, or for a woman to wash her father or brother, it is not permissible except in cases of extreme necessity, such as the absence of a washer of the same gender. In such a case, the deceased female is washed while dressed in her clothes.
