Is it permissible to perform Istikhara seeking success in a job competition while wishing for a specific outcome?

Istikhara is recommended for a Muslim in every permissible action. It is prescribed for one who intends to apply for a job competition to seek Allah's guidance (perform Istikhara) regarding it. Then, he should also perform Istikhara regarding whether success in it would be good for him or not. There is no harm in the heart inclining towards a specific choice, but the one performing Istikhara should do what his heart feels at ease with after Istikhara, not what he desired before it. The sincere seeker of guidance disengages from his own choices and desires, relying on what Allah chooses for him.
