What is the ruling on people coming from neighboring countries to inaugurate a new mosque? And does the hadith: "Journeys are not to be made to any mosque but three..." indicate its prohibition? And what is the evidence for its permissibility? And does the hadith of the Prophet's supplication (peace and blessings be upon him) to pray in a corner of the house indicate its permissibility? And does the concept of the story of Masjid al-Dirar indicate its permissibility?

The inauguration and development of mosques are achieved through prayer, remembrance of Allah, recitation of the Qur'an, and the teaching of religious sciences, in emulation of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and the Rightly Guided Caliphs. There is no authentic report that they inaugurated mosques with the celebrations and gatherings that people advocate for today. Had that been praiseworthy, they would have done it. Therefore, these celebrations should not be held, nor should one respond to invitations to them, nor cooperate in their establishment, because goodness lies in following the predecessors and evil lies in innovation. The invitation of some Companions to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, to pray in their homes is not evidence for celebrating the inauguration of mosques, especially with the prohibition against undertaking a journey for the purpose of visiting any mosque other than the three sacred mosques. This custom must be abandoned, and it is sufficient to adhere to what was practiced during the time of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and the imams of guidance.
