Is one rewarded for making up missed prayers and fasts? And is the sin for them removed by doing so? And is one rewarded for reciting Al-Fatiha and dhikr in them? And is delaying the make-up considered negligence? And is it permissible to combine making up missed acts of worship with supererogatory acts and seeking knowledge?

The issue of the obligation to make up prayers for one who intentionally missed them is a matter of disagreement. The fatwa adopted by us is the opinion of the majority, which holds that making them up is obligatory. However, according to the Hanbalis, you may pray the regular supererogatory prayers before making up the missed ones. The Malikis believe that one's obligation is fulfilled by making up two days' worth of prayers with each day [of actual prayer]. You may adopt this opinion if it is easier for you. A servant is rewarded for remembering Allah in his prayer, and his obligation is cleared from this grave sin, thereby fulfilling his debt to Allah. It is hoped that Allah will record for him the reward of a worshipper as long as he is repentant.
