Is it permissible to work with the "previously prohibited" financial leverage and dispose of the money generated from it to buy a house or educate younger siblings?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Financial leverage is a loan that draws a benefit, and every loan that draws a benefit is usury (riba).

The broker grants a loan to a person so that they can trade with it through him, increasing his commission from buying and selling operations. This leads to combining a loan and a reciprocal exchange (mu'awadah), which is in the meaning of combining a loan and a sale, which is forbidden by Sharia.

It is not permissible to deal with it or undertake it, and the intention to spend what was earned through it on building a house, providing for one's family, or educating one's children, does not make it permissible to undertake it from the outset.

There are many ways of lawful earning for whoever seeks and desires them. Allah Almighty says: "And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him a way out And will provide for him from where he does not expect."
