Is it permissible to compensate for bank stock losses from usurious savings account profits?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

One who repents from usury must only take back their principal capital, as Allah Almighty says: (And if you repent, you may have your principal - [thus] you do no wrong, nor are you wronged). Anything beyond that must be disposed of by spending it on charitable and benevolent causes. However, compensating stock losses with usurious money is impermissible, as it is money from which one is not allowed to benefit. The stock owner must bear the loss from their own wealth.
