Is it permissible to intentionally omit the first Tashahhud (sitting for testimony) and suffice with only the final Tashahhud of the prayer?

The imams differed regarding the prayer of one who intentionally omits the first tashahhud. Some, like the Malikis, said the prayer is valid but sinful, and prostration of forgetfulness (sujud as-sahw) is not beneficial in this case. Others, like the Hanafis, said the prayer is valid but requires repetition. Still others, like the Shafi'is, said sujud as-sahw is obligatory. Meanwhile, the Hanbalis ruled that the prayer is void if the omission is both intentional and known to be forbidden. This is considered negligence and disregard for prayer, which is the pillar of religion and the first thing a servant will be held accountable for on the Day of Judgment.
