Should I perform the prostration of forgetfulness (sujud al-sahw) before or after the salutation (taslim) if I utter a remembrance (dhikr) in the wrong place, and should I raise my hands when standing to complete a missed prayer as they are raised for the opening takbir (takbirat al-ihram)?

If someone utters a prescribed saying in the wrong place, and then performs the obligatory act, it is sunnah for them to perform the prostration of forgetfulness (sujud al-sahw). If they do not perform the obligatory act, then sujud al-sahw becomes obligatory upon them. It is sunnah to perform the prostration of forgetfulness before the salutation (taslim), unless one makes the taslim before completing the prayer, or if one doubts and inclines towards one of the two possibilities, in which case one prostrates after the taslim. It is established that the hands are raised in prayer at the opening takbir (takbirat al-ihram), when bowing and rising from bowing, and after rising from the two rak'ahs. A latecomer to the prayer (masbuq) raises his hands when the imam rises from his first tashahhud, or when he rises for the third rak'ah.
