Is it necessary to be careful about the clarity of the emission point (makhraj) of the definitive hamza (hamzat al-qat') in prayer, or is it sufficient that it not be exactly like the connective hamza (hamzat al-wasl)?

The hamzat al-wasl (connecting hamza) and hamzat al-qat‘ (cutting hamza) are pronounced in the same way when starting a word. However, the difference appears when they are in the middle of a sentence, where the hamzat al-wasl is dropped, unlike the hamzat al-qat‘. The mistake lies in dropping the hamzat al-qat‘ in the middle of a sentence, as occurs when reciting the verse: "صراط الذين أنعمت عليهم" (the path of those upon whom You have bestowed favor). This is considered an error that invalidates the prayer if the worshipper does not rectify it. Al-Ramli Al-Shafi‘i stated that prayer is not invalidated by dropping the hamzat al-qat‘, but the word must be repeated. The worshipper must articulate each letter from its proper articulation point without exaggeration or affectation to avoid obsessive doubts.
