Is a divorce pronounced by the husband valid when he knows that his wife is menstruating and she had left the marital home before being informed of the divorce, and is she obligated to observe the 'iddah in her family's home or in her husband's home?

Divorcing a menstruating woman is forbidden, yet the majority of scholars hold that such a divorce is valid. It is not a condition for its validity that the woman be in the marital home or that she be aware of the divorce. A woman divorced with a revocable divorce (ṭalāq rajʿī) must observe her waiting period (ʿiddah) in the marital home, based on the Almighty's saying: "Do not expel them from their houses, nor should they themselves leave." If she observes her ʿiddah elsewhere, she is sinful, but her ʿiddah is still concluded. If the ʿiddah expires, even if she is in her family's home, the woman becomes irrevocably separated from her husband, and he cannot take her back except with a new marriage contract.
