Is an illegitimate child considered a gift from God?
A child born out of wedlock may be a trial from Allah for the woman, for the trial and tribulation in it are more apparent than the blessing. However, repentance, striving in acts of obedience, and raising the child upon virtues can transform this trial into blessings in this world and the Hereafter. Allah Almighty says: (And those who do not invoke with Allah another deity or kill the soul which Allah has forbidden [to be killed], except by right, and do not commit unlawful sexual intercourse. And whoever does that will meet a penalty. The punishment will be doubled for him on the Day of Resurrection, and he will abide therein humiliated – Except for those who repent, believe and do righteous deeds; for those, Allah will change their evil deeds into good ones. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful.) [Al-Furqan: 68-70]. The changing of evil deeds into good deeds means either replacing sins with acts of obedience, or the transformation of evil deeds into good deeds through regret and seeking forgiveness for them.
