What are the conditions for sexual intercourse that fulfill revocation (rujūʿ), and what is its legal definition, and does it require the insertion of the penis into the vagina, along with mentioning the sayings of scholars on this, based on the spouses doing everything except insertion during the waiting period?

Scholars agree that revocable divorce (raj'ah) is effected by word. However, they differ on whether it can be effected by action without speech. The Hanafis hold that it can be effected by action without intercourse. The Hanbalis and Malikis maintain that it is effected by intercourse, with the Malikis stipulating the intention of reconciliation. The Shafi'is, on the other hand, hold that revocable divorce is not effected by action at all. Intercourse (jima') means the insertion of the male organ into the other organ until the glans disappears.
