What is the ruling on my ghusl and prayers that I performed without Tasmiyah (saying Bismillah), madhmadah (rinsing the mouth), and istinshaq (rinsing the nose) during ghusl, relying on your fatwas that they are not obligatory, while today I read that they are obligatory according to the Hanbalis? Do I need to repeat the prayers? What is the correct ruling regarding Tasmiyah, madhmadah, and istinshaq in wudu and ghusl? What is the ruling for someone who forgot them? What is the ruling on washing some parts of the body for cleanliness or cooling, and does it require intention?

The fact that saying "Bismillah" (Tasmiyah), rinsing the mouth (Madmadah), and sniffing water into the nose (Istinshaq) are not obligatory during ablution (wudu') and ritual bath (ghusl) according to the majority of scholars does not mean it is permissible to intentionally abandon them. Rather, they are established Sunnah acts, and omitting them does not affect the validity of purification or prayer. Al-Nawawi mentioned that Tasmiyah is a Sunnah according to Al-Shafi'i, Malik, Abu Hanifa, and the majority of scholars. He also stated that Madmadah and Istinshaq are two Sunnah acts in ablution and ritual bath according to Al-Shafi'i, Malik, Al-Awza'i, and others. The preponderant opinion regarding Tasmiyah, Madmadah, and Istinshaq is that they are Sunnah and not obligatory. As for washing the body for cleanliness or to cool down, there is no harm in it and no intention is required for it.
