What is the Sharia ruling on naming a child "Al-Qassam"?

The name "Al-Qassam" is not among the prohibited or disliked names. It is a superlative form of "Al-Qasm," meaning distribution or other similar meanings. Therefore, there is no religious impediment to naming with it. However, naming with the names of Prophets and Companions is preferable.
