Is it permissible to glance at one's daughter during prayer?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

The worshiper must approach their prayer with both heart and body. It is disliked to turn away during prayer without need. However, it does not invalidate the prayer if it is merely a slight turning of the face. But if the turning is such that one turns their back to the Qiblah, then it nullifies the prayer. If the turning is due to a need, such as fear for a female child, then there is no dislike in it, as long as it does not lead to turning one's back to the Qiblah or to excessive movement that distracts from the prayer. It is obligatory to break the prayer to save a life if there is fear of harm or destruction to the child, and then one resumes the prayer.
