What should I do when I doubt the number of prostrations (sujud) in my prayer, and should I repeat the prayer if the doubt recurs, and what is the ruling if I become certain of missing a prostration while I am in the second rak'ah?

If a worshiper doubts whether they omitted a pillar (rukn) of the prayer or is certain they omitted it, they must perform it as long as it is not too late to catch up. If it is too late to catch up, the prostration (rak'ah) in which the pillar was omitted becomes void. However, if a person experiences frequent doubts to the point of it becoming obsessive whispering (waswas), they should not pay attention to these doubts and are not required to perform the prostration of forgetfulness (sujud as-sahw). Instead, they should seek refuge with Allah from Satan and proceed with their prayer.
