What is the remedy for the obsessive thoughts of ritual purity (taharah) and repelling evil (mudafa'at al-khabath) that a woman is suffering from, and how can she rid herself of the obsessive thoughts of insulting the Qur'an and insulting Allah that she has experienced?
The cure for waswas (obsessive whispering) is frequent seeking of refuge with Allah from the accursed Shaytan, especially by reciting the two Mu'awwidhatayn (Surahs Al-Falaq and An-Nas), turning to Allah Almighty, and having a sincere resolve not to pay attention to these whisperings. So, if one performs ablution or prays, and then waswas occurs, questioning whether their ablution or prayer was complete, they should not pay attention to that. Similarly, if blasphemous thoughts about Allah or the Qur'an cross their mind, it does not harm them, even if such words slip from their tongue involuntarily. The waswas that casts doubt on Allah or other matters is a sign of faith, because Shaytan only afflicts hearts that are full of faith. The person experiencing waswas must completely ignore these whisperings, even if they feel discomfort initially, for it will disappear, by Allah's will.
