Theft from parents or others is forbidden, and it is not justified by the son's shyness or his need for treatment. Rather, he must repent and return the stolen item or seek forgiveness. If the son is ill and unable to earn a living, and cannot find the cost of treatment, then the father is obligated to pay for his treatment. If the father is unable to do so or is not present, then the wealthy mother is obligated. If the mother refuses, the son is permitted to take from her money an amount sufficient for his treatment, without her knowledge.
