How are the Hadith "Flee from the leper as you would flee from a lion" and the Hadith "Nothing infects anything else" reconciled?

The scholars have reconciled the two aforementioned hadiths in several ways, among them: that the negation of contagion means that nothing transmits disease by its own nature, refuting what the Jahiliyyah (pre-Islamic era) believed, which was that diseases transmit by their own nature without attribution to Allah. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, ate with the leper to demonstrate that Allah is the One who causes illness and grants healing. His prohibition against approaching him was to show that this is one of the means by which Allah has customarily ordained that they lead to their effects. Thus, in his prohibition, there is an affirmation of means, and in his action, there is an indication that these means are not independent, but rather Allah is the One who deprives them of their powers or sustains them.
