What is the ruling on swallowing saliva after rinsing the mouth or nose for a fasting person?

The fasting person is commanded not to exaggerate in sniffing water (instinshaaq) and rinsing the mouth (madhmadhah). If he rinses his mouth or sniffs water, he should expel the water from his mouth or nose. He is not required to repeatedly spit until his throat dries, as this is an excessive act (tanattu') which is forbidden. The same applies to sniffing water; he should expel the water after each sniff and is not required to repeat this. If the fasting person doubts whether water entered his throat, this doubt has no effect. And if he becomes certain that something reached his throat unintentionally and without exaggeration, it does not harm his fast, according to the more correct of the two opinions of the scholars.
