Is allowing an orphan child to drive a car while sitting on one's lap, for fear of displeasing him, considered sodomy?

A child sitting on one's lap is not, by mistake, an act of sodomy. One should not give in to such whispers (waswas). However, in the future, care must be taken to avoid letting him sit on one's lap due to the potentially undesirable consequences. Likewise, it is not permissible to allow a child of this age to drive a car.
