A woman must observe hijab in the presence of her male cousin (son of her paternal aunt), as he is a mahram to her. The fact that she may not consider herself beautiful or that she views him as a brother does not negate the obligation of hijab upon her. She must also cover herself in the presence of unfamiliar elder men from the family, unless the man has reached an age where he no longer desires women. We advise adherence to the rulings of Islamic law and not paying attention to the mockery of scoffers, remembering the hadith of Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever seeks Allah's pleasure by the people's displeasure, Allah will suffice him against the people's burden; and whoever seeks the people's pleasure by Allah's displeasure, Allah will entrust him to the people." If anyone scoffs, they should be reminded of Allah and the gravity of scoffing at religion.
