How can one clarify the issue of divine decree (qadar) and encourage taking means (asbab) for someone who believes that destiny is predetermined and there is no benefit in action?

Divine decree (Qadar) does not contradict taking means (Asbab); for Allah Almighty has predetermined the measures of all things with their means, and these means are part of Allah's decree. We have been commanded to adopt them, and we have been enabled to do so. A person's sustenance is predetermined, yet people strive to attain it, and no wise person abandons work on the pretext that it is predetermined.
