What is the ruling on buying bracelets from a goldsmith with money that I had previously left with him?

It is permissible to buy gold and pay the price hand to hand, and there is no harm in that. It is also permissible to buy gold with money that is owed by the seller, because exchanging for what is owed after it becomes due is like exchanging for what is in hand. The majority of scholars have permitted this.
