A woman recognizes purity by one of two signs: dryness (which is inserting a piece of cotton into the private parts and it comes out clean), or the white discharge. As long as yellow discharge is still coming out, she is still menstruating. If it comes out clean and there is transparent discharge on it, then purity has been attained, and she must perform ghusl (ritual bath) and pray. Any yellowish or brownish discharge seen after that is not considered menstruation unless it occurs during the usual period. Dryness is not determined by the sanitary pad, but rather by the cleanliness of the cloth inserted, being free of blood, yellowish, or brownish discharge.
