Is the missed pre-Dhuhr Sunnah prayer prayed immediately after the Dhuhr prayer and before its post-prayer Sunnah, or after the post-prayer Sunnah prayer? And is it permissible to complete the remaining two rak'ahs of the four-rak'ah pre-Dhuhr Sunnah prayer after the Dhuhr prayer if the congregational prayer began after only two rak'ahs had been performed?

The sayings of the jurists vary regarding making up the pre-Dhuhr regular sunnah prayer for one who missed it. Some of them hold that it should be made up after the post-Dhuhr sunnah prayer, citing the hadith of Aisha that the Prophet (peace be upon him) used to do that. Others believe it should be made up before the post-Dhuhr sunnah prayer. The first opinion is closer to being in accordance with the hadith. However, if the prayer is established, it is not legislated to begin the pre-Dhuhr sunnah prayer. Rather, the obligatory prayer should be performed with the congregation, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace be upon him): "If the prayer is established, there is no prayer except the obligatory one." In that case, the two rak'ahs that were prayed before the iqamah are sufficient, and the remaining can be made up after the prayer.
