Is it permissible to raise the hands in supplication (Du'a) during prayer (Salat)?

Supplication (Du'a) is prescribed in prayer in several instances: in prostration (sujud), between the two prostrations, and after the final Tashahhud before the salutation (taslim). Raising the hands is not prescribed in any of these instances, except for Qunut in Witr prayer or in obligatory prayers during a calamity (nazilah), where raising the hands is prescribed due to the actions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and his Companions.
