Is there no divorce for one who divorces in jest nowadays, because no one would go to the marriage officiant and pay him money to divorce while jesting?
Divorce pronounced in jest is effective by the consensus of the scholars, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "There are three things which, whether done seriously or in jest, are taken seriously: marriage, divorce, and رجعة (taking back one's wife after a revocable divorce)." Divorce becomes effective when the husband pronounces it, being aware and acting voluntarily, and its registration with the ma'dhun (official authorized to perform marriages and divorces) is not a condition.
