What is the share of each heir from the inheritance?

If a man dies, leaving behind a wife, three sons, and a daughter, and no other heirs, then his wife receives one-eighth (1/8) as her prescribed share, due to the presence of a lineal descendant, based on Allah's saying: "But if you have a child, then for them [the wives] is one eighth of what you leave." The remainder is for the sons and the daughter by way of asabah (residuary heirs), with the male receiving the share of two females, based on Allah's saying: "Allah instructs you concerning your children: for the male, what is equal to the share of two females."

Accordingly, the inheritance is divided into eight shares: the wife receives one share (one-eighth), each son receives two shares, and the daughter receives one share.

It is advisable to refer inheritance matters to the Sharia courts for investigation, as there might be another heir, or wills, or debts that take precedence over the rights of the heirs.
