The discharge of blood after a Cesarean section is considered nifaas (post-natal bleeding), and its maximum duration is forty days, with no minimum limit. A woman is considered in a state of nifaas as long as the bleeding continues, even if it is intermittent, until she completes the forty days, or sees purity by the cessation of blood and the dryness of the area, at which point she must perform ghusl (ritual bath).
