Is this Hadith authentic: "Indeed, Allah detests the corpulent scholar (hibra samīn)"?

The hadith "Indeed, Allah detests the fat scholar" has not been authentically reported from the Prophet (peace be upon him) nor from any of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them). A weak narration has been reported from Sa'id ibn Jubayr with a wording similar to the aforementioned hadith. As for the dispraise of fatness in Islamic law, it is related to fatness resulting from excessive indulgence in pleasures and being preoccupied with them to the detriment of righteous deeds, not fatness resulting from an illness or bodily nature. The Sunnah has indicated the dispraise of acquired fatness, as in the hadith: "Indeed, a great, fat man will come on the Day of Resurrection, weighing no more than the wing of a mosquito in the sight of Allah." And likewise, the hadith: "Fatness will appear among them," which is a dispraise indicating excessive eating and gluttony that distracts from acts of worship. However, there is no blame on one who experiences fatness for a reason other than extravagance.
