A person praying on a chair should exert effort to ensure the straightness and alignment of the row without causing harm to other worshippers. If they are unable to do so, they are excused. The chair should not be placed in a way that inconveniences worshippers. A seated worshipper is not required to align their feet with the feet of those standing, because their posterior takes the place of their feet. The correct way is for the back legs of the chair to be on the line of the row, which means the worshipper's feet will be ahead when sitting if they are praying the entire prayer while seated. If it inconveniences other worshippers, they can stand at the end of the row. The Permanent Committee for Scholarly Research and Ifta stated that there is no harm in a sick person praying on a chair in the first row, and this does not affect the continuity of the row. If they cannot find a suitable place, they should be at the end of the row.
