What are the conditions for someone to be deputized by the Imam to lead the prayer in his place if he remembers that he is not in a state of ritual purity (wudu') or if he loses it during the prayer?

It is permissible for the Imam to appoint someone to take his place if something occurs that necessitates his departure. This is the view of the majority of scholars. It is stipulated that the appointed successor must meet the same conditions as the original Imam for the validity of his imamate. It is recommended to prioritize those whom the Sharia has given precedence, such as the one who is most knowledgeable of the Book of Allah, then the one who is most knowledgeable of the Sunnah, and so on. It is necessary to avoid succession that leads to discord or the corruption of the prayer, such as appointing someone who joined late (masbuq) and does not know how to lead the people in prayer.
