Is prayer valid with excessive movement?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

A Muslim must approach their prayer with humility and tranquility, for Allah the Almighty says: "Successful indeed are the believers, those who humble themselves in their prayers." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, commanded those who prayed poorly to repeat their prayer due to lack of tranquility. Therefore, tranquility is a pillar without which prayer is invalid. Fidgeting with clothes and the like during prayer is disliked. If fidgeting becomes excessive and continuous, it is forbidden and invalidates the prayer. However, if the movement is slight, the prayer is not invalidated, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, carried Umamah during his prayer and opened the door for Aisha.
