Is the questioner sinful for shunning his parents and siblings due to his parents' insistence on allowing their children to commit sins? And does the Sharia obligate him to force his siblings to abandon sin? And is he sinful if he emigrates to another country and severs his ties with his parents, except for telephoning them from time to time?
We advise you to continue inviting your brothers to Allah and counseling them with wisdom and good admonition, especially during times when supplications are answered, and to remind your parents of their responsibility towards their children. If your brothers do not respond to the counsel, you may shun them if it is hoped that shunning them will benefit them. However, it is not permissible to shun parents under any circumstances; you must honor them even if they mistreat you, for their mistreatment does not negate your duty to honor them. Disobeying parents does not prevent the acceptance of acts of worship. Do not resort to traveling far from your parents unless there is an overriding benefit in doing so.
