It is not permissible for a man to kiss a man or a woman to kiss a woman out of lust, nor is embracing without a barrier permissible. The Prophet, peace be upon him, forbade hugging without a barrier and kissing. However, if the kissing is done out of goodwill and honoring, it is permissible. This is not considered sodomy, which requires a legal penalty, as sodomy, according to religious law, is the insertion of the glans into the male's anus. Kissing between spouses is permissible enjoyment, even recommended, before intercourse."
