Is it permissible to say, "He creates forty from similar things," and does it have a basis in the Qur'an and Sunnah?

The phrase mentioned is not from the lexicon of Islamic law (Shari'ah), nor from the discourse of the Pious Predecessors (Salaf). Rather, it is a common expression used by ordinary people to express wonder when they observe a resemblance between individuals who are not related. If there is any error in it, it lies in specifying the number as forty or otherwise. Otherwise, the resemblance of people in appearance and character, and the harmony of souls, is a known matter, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Souls are like recruited soldiers; those among them who recognize one another will become harmonious, and those among them who deny one another will diverge."
