Do gases invalidate ablution as a preventative measure?

The emission of gas (farting) invalidates ablution (wudu') by scholarly consensus, based on the Almighty's saying: "or one of you comes from the call of nature" (Quran 5:6), and the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "He should not leave (his prayer) until he hears a sound or perceives a smell." As for sounds within the stomach, they do not invalidate ablution.
