Does the verse "Are those who know equal to those who do not know?" include scholars in worldly fields such as medicine and engineering, given their piety towards Allah?

The Quranic verses and Prophetic hadiths that encourage seeking knowledge primarily address the pursuit of religious knowledge (ilm shar'i) because it is the most noble of sciences. Nevertheless, the noble verse also encompasses beneficial worldly sciences, such as medicine and engineering, provided their practitioners adhere to piety. As for blameworthy sciences, they are those that lead to heedlessness of the Hereafter, in accordance with His (the Almighty’s) saying: "They know only the outside [aspect] of the worldly life, and they are of the Hereafter unmindful."
