How sound is the circulating story which mentions that the Messenger of Allah, Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him, when he entered Mecca as a conqueror, asked Bilal to pray with him inside the Kaaba in his honor, then ordered him to ascend to the roof of the Kaaba, and Abu Bakr and Omar carried him for that, and the Messenger said to him: "By Allah, there is no god but Him, this Kaaba is indeed great in the sight of Allah, and by Allah, you are today greater and nobler than it in the sight of Allah"?

This story has no chain of narration (isnad), and what it contains regarding the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, requesting Bilal and singling him out to pray with him inside the Kaaba indicates its falsehood. This is because Bilal was accompanying the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, when he entered Mecca, and Usama bin Zayd and Uthman bin Talhah entered the Kaaba with him to pray inside it. However, it is not reported that they prayed with him. As for Bilal's adhan on top of the Kaaba, there are mursal narrations regarding it, some of which were mentioned by Ibn Ishaq and Urwah.
