Is the creed of the People of the Sunnah and the Community (Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jama’ah) the only correct one, or are some of the current Sufi orders considered permissible, and what their followers do correct, taking into account that calling oneself “Ja’fari” or “Shadhili” is an innovation, as no one called themselves by similar names during the era of the Companions and the Successors?

The Saved Sect is that which follows what the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and his Companions were upon, and adheres to his Sunnah and the Sunnah of the Rightly Guided Caliphs, and follows the path of the righteous predecessors. Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah (the People of the Sunnah and the Community) are those who follow the traces of the Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, outwardly and inwardly, and prioritize the words of Allah and the guidance of the Prophet over all else. They are called Ahl al-Jama'ah because jama'ah means unity, and its opposite is disunity. Current Sufism does not follow what the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and his Companions were upon, unlike some of their predecessors. Designations and affiliations are permissible for identification as long as they do not lead to allegiance or enmity based on something other than the guidance of Islamic law, for allegiance and enmity are based on faith and disbelief.
