What is your advice to me, as a Muslim student in a foreign country, who feels lonely and in need of someone to love me, especially when I see my friends with girlfriends, which causes me daily torment?

Emotional relationships outside the framework of marriage are not permissible in Islam, as stated in the verse: "chaste, neither fornicators nor those who take secret lovers." Such relationships are a means to corruption and a great temptation. It is advised to seek a path to marriage, for it is more lowering of the gaze and more protective of one's chastity. If a young man cannot afford it, he should fast. If marriage is difficult, he should seek righteous company that will help him preserve his religion and his chastity, and occupy his time with what benefits him in his religion, his worldly life, and his studies.
