Does zakat become due on money that was used to purchase a rented apartment after its zakat was paid and a year has passed over it?

There is no Zakat on an apartment rented for residential purposes. Rather, Zakat is obligatory on its rent if it reaches the nisab and a year has passed over it, whether by itself or combined with other wealth.
