Must a woman make up the day she broke her fast because she believed menstruation was continuing, given the presence of blood in her urine and her inability to recall the usual number of days for her menstrual cycle?

Purity from menstruation is recognized by two signs: the emission of al-qassah al-bayda' (a white discharge), or complete dryness such that a cotton swab comes out clean. If al-qassah al-bayda' is not seen and complete dryness does not occur, and blood, yellowish discharge (sufrah), or brownish discharge (kudrah) remains, then menstruation is still ongoing. In this case, one must make up the missed prayers and there is no sin. The general rule is that any blood discharged during the menstrual period is considered menstrual blood, as long as it does not exceed 15 days. Menstrual blood usually does not exit from the urinary opening, but it may be noticed during urination.
